Loft Conversion: Newlands, Cape Town

This 36 sq m loft was completed in 7 weeks. The owner had a fantastic sense of aesthetics and this helped to make the project an absolute pleasure – we were all delighted with the finished job.

In terms of addressing challenges, the Lofts team rose to the occasion. We needed to adopt a very narrow loft into what you see now, using a dormer window to solve the problem. We could only enter from an existing addition where the roof was at a lower level and the staircase we installed provided the answer.

In the living room we removed the existing ceiling, exposed the roof trusses and chopped off the plaster to expose the old brickwork

It looks easy but you need experience and skills to provide functional solutions that are also aesthetically appealing.
